EJ's MTG Playing Guide :D (Updated Weekly Till completion

Post by Ej1997 » Wed Nov 26, 2014 6:49 pm

Ok so as some may have noticed I haven't been on that much lately. Well here's the reason. I've kinda started playing Magic The Gathering because honestly the player base where I play locally was a lot nicer then the group of snot nosed brats and jerks that would usually show up to yugioh tournaments at the place where I live. Still since learning to play I've fallen in love with this game and I really want to encourage other people on here to learn how to play casually and even for those interested so I've decided to make a guide focusing on the game. I'm even "rebooting" my old Youtube channel so that it encompasses both MTG and Yugioh. I'll make tutorial video's which I'll post here to accompany the written guide. I can't wait to get started on this and if anyone has any questions please post below :D

Is it more complicated than Yugioh?

Honestly I find it simpler... As far as game play mechanics are concerned

For the most part no as LD said Magic is fairly easy to pick up and once you get the hang of it it's an awesome game to play :D The thing that makes MTG easy to pick up is the fact that the cards themselves aren't overloaded with card text saying how something is done like yugioh. Magic simply uses certain keywords that are generic(therefore they are used in all sets) or set specific(These abilities are released only for their corresponding set.) However because of this once a player knows the what the keywords mean and how they effect the game they can look at any card and assess the capabilities without ever seeing the card before. Meaning that even blind matches there is a chance you can predict your opponent's movements and succeed :D

I know this is a necrobump but would anyone be interested in me reviving this thread and finishing the guide now that yugioh is going crazy with links?

Just build a wall of floodgates.
And make the OCG pay for it!
