I love GTS

Post by DraggyTheDragon222 » Wed Oct 30, 2013 2:14 pm

So for the longest time I've been wondering which pokemon would be most worth my time if I tried masuda. I finally decided on Charmander because now I can make Mega Charizard Y not look lame.

So I want this thing to be useable in battle because whats the point of a shiny that can't be shown off to everyone in the world XD
Another criteria I have is that the pokemon MUST be in a luxury ball if it has a mega form (I do all my special pokemon like that XD). So this means I can't use ditto to breed my female charmanders.

Since I'm receiving the foreign charmander from someone else, I have to make sure its male with at least max IVs in sp atk and spd. This way I can provide the female and make sure its in a luxury ball to breed. So I go on gts and look up every single male charmander thats level 1-10 (Level 1 charmanders have a higher chance of being the offspring of pokemon that were being bred for IVs).

And surely enough I trade for a bunch of foreign charmanders that requested odd things like arbok or clefairy. After about 5-10 charmanders traded I go back and check them.
One charmander that I got really lucky with was a Japanese charmander that had max IVs in Hp atk and spd with dragon dance and outrage (Which are egg moves I believe).

But the one I really was happy with was a PERFECT IV (Minus atk IVs) Japanese charmander. This thing is just perfect for masuda method and I'm gonna be breeding tons of orange dinosaurs from this thing!

Or if you simplify that fraction, 1/4000.

I dont know how they ever got to call that Masuda thing a "method" though. All you're doing is breeding foreign pokemon with your resident pokemon over and over again until one happens to hatch Shiny.

Still, everyone seems to be seeing a ton of shiny pokemon, and i've never even seen one.

I seen a shiny Ralts, but when I caught it my 3DS died because I forgot to charge it before I played and I never got to save it.

I ain't seen a shiny since then I don't think :(

It's simple.
Masuda Method has alliteration.
This is how the world ends
This is how the world ends
This is how the world ends
Not with a bang, but a whimper.

Where did you hear it got nerfed? From what I heard it got buffed to 1/1300...

I wish we had a massive table of every shiny hatched by masuda method and the number of eggs hatched to make a shiny, then we'd be pretty sure of the range -_-

I'm pretty sure that was for Gen 5 with the shiny wing which allowed a 8/8000

Masuda with shiny wing was 1/1000:

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Masuda_method

Bottom of page, gen V was 1300 unless they changed it to be harder, which doesn't seem to be the case because it seems like they actually upped the rates from what I've heard.

I think they drop masuda because they increase chances of finding them in other places such as friend safari, hoards, chain fishing and regular chaining.

Where did you hear this?

Every account of masuda method hatching I've heard of actually took around 500-1000 eggs. Unless everything I've read is really lucky which could be true, but I've actually heard a lot more people say that they got their shinys at 200 or 400 hatches which makes me think there might be other mechanics at work. Very rarely have I heard anyone say that it took more than 2000 eggs to get their shiny with masuda.

My friend hatched about 2000 and didn't get 1 shiney

EDIT: going around the center of luminos city is the best way to hatch eggs as you only need to push 1 button the whole time.
