Re: Holo Disics
They could but the cost for each unit would be far to expensive for any normal duelist or even the ones that spend 1000s on competitive decks. Only the really rich could but them so why try until they could drastically drop the price of hologram technology.

Re: Holo Disics
Well, it's nearly impossible for the type of holographic Duel Disks you see in the anime.
What's more likely is something similar to the duel box they used in the early manga.
Basically the table where the duelists sat was inside this big clear box that projected the holograms onto the table.
However, you'd need to modify that a bit.
You should have the box be on the table, and it needs to be a bit dark.
Projected correctly, it would give the image a 3D look.
Of course, something would need to recognize the cards played.
But they can project realistic, living looking holograms right in front of people already.
Like this...

That's a real life Hatsune Miku performing on stage in front of a real crowd.
The trick to that is that it's so dark, you can't tell there's actually a clear screen that the image is being projected on.
The projection comes from underneath the stage and is reflected up onto the clear curtain.
It's basically a giant magic trick, set to music.
I'm thinking you need to do something like that, only scaled down to table size.
Then it's a simple matter of playing in low light and having the person operating the images to know the cards being played.
Either that, or a camera connected to the projector's computer needs to know how to recognize cards, probably hard to do with holofoil making images fuzzy.
But even a smaller setup like that would need to be saved for the finals of major events.
You have to offset the cost of the machinery and operators somehow.
However, unless you're playing at night or in the dark, there's too much light to project a hologram with duel disks, even if technology advanced far enough to be able to project one anywhere.
The hologram itself is made of light, so a sunny day would be a problem.

I wish... Wait about 100 years for virtual reality to become reality is what I would have to say.

Re: Holo Disics
What about using yugioh cards as Ar cards? I mean it wouldnt be easy but playing yugioh while recording the duel. The the phone reads the images on the cards. Then presto realistic looking yugioh video feed.

I say you now!!! in 10-20 years there no more footbal or other sports. all sportsarena's will be replaced with duelingmachinehologramthings. each 4 years at the Olympic games: yugioh!!!!
Re: Holo Disics
MTG would/should be in the Olympics first, Yugioh is too high variance.tnar wrote:I say you now!!! in 10-20 years there no more footbal or other sports. all sportsarena's will be replaced with duelingmachinehologramthings. each 4 years at the Olympic games: yugioh!!!!
