I think it's more like Nicktoons Network has been into buying up anime lately.

They aired Dragonball Kai despite the original version of DBZ airing here on Cartoon Network.
When that ended, they straight up showed the dub of Dragonball GT even though people don't really like it.

They have the new Voltron Force cartoon.
Monsuno.
Yugioh replaced Huntik.
They have been obsessed with Power Rangers in the recent year, especially the Samurai one.

So they're just on an anime kick.

Power Rangers Samurai is just as popular, if not more popular, now as the original Power Rangers was back in the early 90s.

I need only look as far as my little newphew to know.
The kid is obsessed with Power Rangers Samurai.

In general, a lot of these cartoon channels are atempting to recapture the magic of the mid-90s, especially with Toonami knockoffs that show a lot of anime and action cartoons.

Toonami itself was responcible for anime and action cartoons going mainstream and becomming huge in the 90s and into the early 2000s with Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and other such properties.

The Hub has taken up all the old Batman: The Animated Series cartoons and does a lot of action shows.
Nick as stated did Dragonball Kai and DBGT, along with now YuGiOh and the new Voltron.
Sailor Moon is slated for a comeback.
Toonami itself has been reborn as part of the [adult swim] lineup on Saturdays for [adult swim]'s own anime block after fans voted to bring it back due to a gimmick [as] did a few months ago.
Cartoon Network in general has been teaming up with DC Comics a lot to bring shows connected to all their Justice League related properties in their DC Nation cartoon block.

All these cartoon channels in America have been trying to recreate the magic of that era in some form or another.
The 90s and early 2000s here in the US were a very good time for animation, especially anime and action shows, and it had been slipping in recent years.
They are finally starting to realize that we actually liked that stuff.

Actually, according to one of the VAs, they're working on the Buu saga now for certain markets.
Though whether or not it gets dubbed is anyone's guess.

The Majin saga is the least favored saga of everything from the original Draognball Z.
People didn't like a lot of the characters and find a lot of it ridiculous.
They find Goten and Kid Trunks annoying, find adult Gohan even weaker than his SS2 teen self that anihilated Cell, and just generally dislike it.

A lot of people prefer the story ending after Cell or even after Namek.
I'm one of those people that like the story ending after Cell, although there are parts of the Majin saga I did like.

Mid eighties had the best cartoons. G.I.Joe, Voltron, Thundercats.....those were great cartoons.

I'd actually go with mid 90s to early 2000s.
Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Disney all had amazing lineups (though a lot of Disney's were Disney Afternoon repeats, at the time.)
Though I agree those were great series.

Mid-80s were good.
I was a huge fan of He-Man and The Real Ghostbusters and Generation 1 Transformers myself.
Oh, don't forget the original TMNT cartoon (which is also being redone currently on Nickelodeon rather nicely).

But I think the primetime of modern cartoons happened in the 90s and early 2000s.

Really, you can pinpoint highlights from any decade of cartoons since they existed, but some eras stood out better than others.

I suppose it also has to do with your childhood perspective.
If you were a kid in the 60s and 70s, your view on the best era of cartoons is going to be askew from someone born in the 80s or born in the 90s.

I have to say though I didn't live through the 80's they did produce the breeding ground for anime to thrive.

And Transformers G1 is the greatest cartoon of all time in my opinion. Though I hate Rodimus Prime for the longest time. Was happy to see optimus come back at the end of season 4.

How did you manage to grow up watching 80s cartoons when you were born in 93?
Doesn't seem very likely.
I mean the 90s were almost over before you were old enough to comprehend most cartoons.
