Quickdraw Decks - A Guide

Post by Decidemator » Fri Jun 17, 2011 11:21 am

Ok the fabled Quickdraw/Debris deck.

There are so many varieties of this deck that it can stay fresh through the formats - lets take a look at some of them:

Classic Quickdraw - The one i run atm - ill put my build up later.
Quickdraw Dandywarrior
Quickdraw/ Sorcerer
Quickdraw Turbo
Quickdraw Zombies
Quickdraw Lightsworns

Just to name a few!

Lets start off with the basics of a Quickdraw Deck:

Staples:

Quickdraw Synchron - This card is great and the real pivot of the deck. He is easily special summonable, all you have to do is drop a monster (Dandy/Treeborn etc.) and you get this lv5 tuner on the field! Secondly he can make a variety of synchro monsters, as he counts for all the Synchron monsters! So 1 monster to summon Nitro Warrior/Turbo Warrior/Drill Warrior/ Junk Destroyer etc.
Fantastic card - run 2+

Debris Dragon - This card excels due to its ability to pull cards from the graveyard for a quick and easy synchro summon. When normal summoned you get a special summon of a monster with <500 ATK from the grave (Dandy,Ryko etc.) You can then synchro out for Black Rose, Iron Chain or Stardust if u have more than one monster. This card has two setbacks though. First, you can only syncho a Dragon type and secondly you cant syncho with a lv4 non tuner.
Otherwise all round great card - run 2 (its semi-limited)

Dandylion - Any Quickdraw player who leaves home without this little card is doomed to fail. It slots perfectly in this deck in so many ways. Not only does it combine well with Debris and QD Synchron to get out Black Rose Dragon and Junk Destroyer respectively but its effect is awesome! Whenever it goes to grave, you get 2 free tokens (lv1 each). These are perfect for synchro-ing with and also form some line of defense if needed. They can be tributed too - but you'll have to wait till your next turn.
You must run 1 - limited.

Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter - This card is one of the most useful in a Quickdraw deck. It has two effects each very potent. When its flipped up firstly you get to destroy 1 card on the field - fantastic, get rid of a big monster, or Necrovalley/Black Whirlwind. Secondly you mill (or send to the graveyard from deck) the top 3 cards of your deck. Now this might not sound instantly as good, but if you mill a Dandylion, that's free tokens, and there is also the option of getting such cards as Treeborn Frog in the grave.
Main 3 - period.

So those are the cards which every deck should contain. Now lets look at the different monsters in the different variations of Quickdraw Decks:

Classic Quickdraw- This deck is also known as Quickdraw Plain and involves elements from the different variations of deck but with its main focus around Debris Dragon and Quickdraw itself.

Sangan - This card is great in a plain Quickdraw deck. Firstly it allows for easy summon of 6,7 or 8 stars and gets you a monster <1500 from your deck to hand (most of your monsters fall into this bracket anyway!)
Run 1 - limited

Treeborn Frog - This card is very useful for synchro summons. Being a lv1 means it is a great way to get out Drill or Turbo Warrior using Quickdraw and it return each standby phase! This increases the amount of synchro summons you can make and helps your defence, or can be used for tributing for bigger monsters (Caius/Ladd).
Run 1 or 2 but 1 should be sufficiant

Spell Striker - This lv 3 monster is brilliant for this deck. It can be special summoned by the simple removal of a Spell from the gave (harmless) and instantly means you can normal summon and then synchro. It also takes no battle damage so can stand up against had hitters of those with trample (eg. BW Bora). Finally it can attack directly, if needed, to finish off an opponent.
Great card - Run 1

Card Trooper - This card works well because it 'mills'. So it puts treeborn and dandy in your grave for tokens or ss ability. Also it then becomes a 1900ATK beatstick able to take on the Shuras and other 1800ATK monsters. Finally, when destroyed, you get a card - nice.

Synchron Explorer - This gets a Quickdraw back from the grave, when normal summoned which gives an instant lv7 syncho (Nitro or Junk Archer) - very simple; very good.
Run 1

Caius The Shadow Monarch - With all the Treeborns and Tokens lying around Caius is perfect to summon getting rid of monsters/spells/traps and removing them from play. 2400ATK beatstick as well - 'nuff said!
Run 2

Light and Darkness Dragon - Bit of a mouthful, referred to as Ladd from here on. Ladd is brilliant because, like Caius, it can easily be tributed and can hold play up for a while, while you get necessary cards to hand - it negates pretty much everything. Also you can special summon a monster when it is destroyed! Yay! Only downside is it cannot be special summoned.
Run 1

Chaos Sorcerer - Lots of lights and darks in grave (Ryko, Caius, Ladd, etc.) very easy to summon. Plus its effect, removing from play 1 face up monster is golden.
Run 1 or in Chaos Quickdraw Decks, 3.

Junk Synchron - Never hurts to have a lv3 tuner and this guy is perfect. He can recall Rykos for a synchro of Catastor or T.G. Hyper Librarian - both excellent cards. Plus useful with Cydra for lv 8s.
Run 1

Effect Veiler - This lv1 tuner is great as it combines well with Treeborn and Tokens for a Formula Synchron, giving you draw power and more tuners, and also it negates your opponents effects in their turn - so no swarming with Blizzard, no Stardust effects, no anything (nothing i believe :P ).
Run 1

So those are some v important monsters in a plain Quickdraw Deck.
Here is my personal build:

2 Quickdraw
2 Debris
2 Caius
3 Ryko
1 Dandylion
1 Junk Synchron
1 Treeborn Frog

1 Effect Veiler

Spells:

1 Solemn Judgement
1 Trap Hole
1 D Prison
1 Magic Cylinder

Extra:
2 Drill Warrior
2 Nitro Warrior
2 Junk Destroyer
2 Iron Chain Dragon
1 Stardust
1 Formula Synchron
1 Catastor
1 Brionac
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Red Dragon Archfiend
1 T.G. Hyper Librarian

Now Quickdraw Dandywarrior - also known as Quickdraw plants.
Not my favourite build but one of the most reliable.

Uses cards such as Glow up Bulb, Tytannial, Lonefire Blossom, Spore etc. to get out big monsters and maintain card advantage.

"But what about Spells and Traps?" I hear you cry.
Well thats just what i'm about to discuss.

As in the build above good support cards are:

Pot of Avarice - With so many monsters in graveyard, this can recycle them and give you draw power - excellent!
Run 2 or 3

Charge of the Light Brigade - Gets you a free Ryko and allows a mill of 3 cards!
Run 1 - limited

Smashing Ground - Good for removing powerful monsters, because at the start of the duel you will have access only to weaker ones.
Run 1

Foolish Burial - Great for getting Dandy and Treeborn in grave - enough said!
Run 1 - limited

Traps as normal.

Well I hope this guide has been useful to all of you budding Quickdraw players - Enjoy and dont be afraid to Destroy! :)
