Metalphosis Yang Zing [Boundless Ocean]

This is the place to tell us about your deck and to give other people feedback on theirs.

Please be nice to new players. Don't expect everyone to be an expert, that is why they are asking for advice, after-all.

Metalphosis Yang Zing [Boundless Ocean]

Post by Rowwdy Yisb » Wed Feb 24, 2016 3:16 pm

Monsters (24):

3 Metalphosis Volflame
3 Metalphosis Goldriver
3 Zefraniu, Secret of the Yang Zing
2 Zefraxi, Treasure of the Yang Zing
2 Metalphosis Steeleren
2 Jiaotu, Darkness of the Yang Zing
1 Suanni, Fire of the Yang Zing
1 Bi'an, Earth of the Yang Zing
1 Bixi, Water of the Yang Zing
1 Chiwen, Light of the Yang Zing
1 Pulao, Wind of the Yang Zing
1 Glow-Up Bulb
1 Rescue Rabbit

Spells (14):

3 Upstart Goblin
3 Supply Squad
2 Yang Zing Path
2 Dark Factory of Mass Production
2 Oracle of the Zefra
2 Summoner's Art
2 Metalphosis Fusion

Traps (2):

2 Yang Zing Creation

Extra (15):

3 Metalphosis Cardinal
2 Chaofeng, Phantom of the Yang Zing
1 Metalphosis Orihulk
1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1 Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon
1 Baxia, Brightness of the Yang Zing
1 Yazi, Evil of the Yang Zing
1 Goyo Guardian
1 Armades, Keeper of Boundaries
1 Formula Synchron
1 Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer
1 Daigusto Emeral

To explain the deck, Metalphosis monsters are able to destroy your own cards, which can trigger effects of the Yang Zing monsters. In addition, you can run both the pendulum Yang Zing's to their full extend, as Metalphosis monsters can range from 1 - 8 in scales. Yang Zing Path and Dark Factory of Mass Production are able to recycle any monsters that are used in fusion summons back to the hand or deck, meaning you wont run out of resources once you get started.

I had to run double copies of Metalphosis Fusion, for a good reason. When searched, it is set directly to your field, where it can then be banished by Trishula, Dark Magic Circle, etc. It is therefore optimal to run two copies of the fusion.

Oracle of the Zefra searches Zefraniu, which you want to see in your hand a lot, but also has various effects depending on what you choose to summon from your extra deck. The fusion effect is, unfortunately, not the best, but you play it for the search anyway.

Supply Squad is ace <3

I am open to any criticism or just general questions, so all feedback appreciated. Would also be interested if anyone else had any Metalphosis builds to share.

how often are you able to out big boards? i feel like certain boards would be quite difficult to deal with.

also how's the monarch matchup?

I did actually have a decently difficult match up vs Blue Eyes because of all the beat sticks, the deck needs a little more removal outside of the extra deck (If only Super Poly were unbanned :( ). However, Baxia is good for getting rid of a clumb of baddies if it isn't veilered or something, and 3000 ATK is enough to beat over most things. Haven't really figured out a way around Dark Destroyer, I'll think of it eventually.

Admittedly only played vs Monarchs once, but I think that the match up is okay if you open decently. There's no major counter in the match up for either deck, except if you bring out Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, they can't do much. Opening Supply Squad means you can keep up with their draw power, so it's an okay match up. I'll see if I play the match up more, though.

in my opinion, i would rather something like raigeki/dark hole in the main over supply squad or dark factory/summoners art.

also stormforth trumps clear wing everytime :'(

I am probably going to take out the Summoner's Arts for a Dark Hole and Raigeki, thanks for the suggestion. They have been testing a bit cloggy anyway, so these will nicely fit. I do want to keep the Supply Squad's though, they help in a pinch when I clog and all I can do is set a Yang Zing and pass to pick up momentum.

Also yeah man, didn't think about that. I mean, I could add stuff like Veiler to the side, but the main deck is too tight to be putting in specific match up cards.

my gripe with squad is that it's slow and passive. turn 1 it's basically a blank card. maybe try chicken game with terraformings to get the deck going?

I can still draw in my turn from using Metalphosis effects on my Yang Zing's to go +2, so it's alright turn one if I open that (which with the numbers, I have a pretty good chance of doing).

I might use that engine, but I don't feel that drawing Oracle is that essential to the deck doing well, it feels like too much seaching for a card that is good, but not great in the deck. I will try it out though, see if the speed helps. Not sure what it will replace in the deck though.

I am looking for either a way to search Goldriver, or another pendulum with scale 1 to use, so if you had any ideas on that I feel like it would really help.

well the chicken game/terraforming will help to see those cards. inherently slow decks need all the speed they can get. one of my blackwing builds uses 3 upstart 3 terraforming 3 chicken game 1 pseudospace to thin the deck and let me see my win condition earlier. i'm essentially playing a 30 card deck.

Wouldn't the Metalphosis effects make Yang Zings miss timing?
