A preview of these following changes to booster packs will be first implemented when High-Speed Riders is released for the TCG. Dimension of Chaos will be unaffected by these changes, but it will be the last booster pack to have Ultimate Rares and Ghost Rares as a result. These following changes will be permanently implemented by the January 15, 2016 release of Breakers of Shadow.

To summarize the upcoming changes to the TCG’s booster packs:



** There will be a regular 9 cards per pack: 1 foil + 1 Rare + 7 Commons

** With this, you are guaranteed 1 foil card in every pack – either Super, Ultra, or Secret Rare.

** If you get an Ultra or Secret Rare, it will replace the Super Rare. You will never get 2 foil cards per pack, just the 1 foil card.

** Each 24-pack box will have, on average, 2 Secret Rares, 4 Ultra Rares, and 18 Super Rares

** Ultra Rares will be found in 1 out every 6 packs, and Secret Rares will be found in 1 out of every 12 packs. (If you don’t manage to pull an Ultra or Secret Rare card, you’ll always get a Super Rare. Just repeating for clarity.)

** Ultimate Rares are moving exclusively to tournament packs (what we know as Astral Packs, Tournament Packs, Champion Packs, etc.).

** Ghost Rares are being removed… for now. (They may see an eventual return in booster packs or something else. Who knows?)

** Each set will still have 8 Secret Rares, 10 Ultra Rares, 14 Super Rares, 20 Rares

** MSRP is unchanged (the store price is the same)

I don't quite like it.
The current system is far from perfect, and it definitely shows how much they like the OCG more than us, but this isn't quite the right direction to step in.
also, no more Ghost Rares? like wtf

I like this change too, since it will make some rarities cheaper and easier to get.

Not to mention that we get less commons, I don't want more jank ^^

Buying a box of the new set would be more value for money, as you're going to get 24 foils! No more shady shops scaling the packs to try bump those who want to buy their products.

It seems like the right step honestly. For multiple reasons

1: it means cards at the super rare level at least won't be as expensive. there's only so many in a set and the more in print means for value to the players

2: Like stated above it means scaling packs is no longer a legitimate issue to worry about. How many times have people been scammed by online sellers who sell the packs they know have no foils.

3: We like shiny things. To be real and to be fair what percentage of players love playing foil cards just because they're foil or like having those shiny cards reflecting back on us from our binders. It's a major selling point that all players can enjoy.

4: Less poor commons. This last reason is mostly because I went through my room and found the box of judgment of the light I opened with the commons inside. Commons are terrible to sell or trade and they take up room. It's nice to know now there will be less junk in our houses.

err..okay.. at least now Poop come in shineys...fair enough..
It's a great that this change means no scaling could be used. Yugioh are quite pricey already without scams and else

I'm mostly okay with this, simply because Ultra and Secret chance doubled.

With they would do kinda like mtg, and have every non-Foil have a chance of being super.
