Does anyone know the number of different cards that have been made in this game?

At least 10 thousand. More for OCG than TCG (because they're ahead in packs and WAAAAY ahead in Duel Terminals, plus there are several really old vanillas that were so outdated by the time they started printing cards for an English-speaking audience they didn't even bother to translate them).

Not 10,000.

It's over 4,000 I believe. And it will continue to grow until Konami quits...

Thes about 4,500 different cards, give or take a few hundred. I think the exact number was something like 4833, but I'm not 100% on that one.

on wikia the gallery lists 5,770 total. I got bored and spent a few hours researching. If anyone can find a confirmation or a website that says anything else let me know. I am wondering because my son and I counted his collection today.

With the exception of a few troll pages, wiki is the most reliable source you'll find, aside from the main sites, and shriek for information

The YCG Database currently has over 6600 English Edition cards in it and we're still (not for long) missing the latest starter deck plus some promos, tins, and gold series, and retro packs. This also doesn't take into account that some cards have multiple printings such as the Ghost Rare versions, etc. The total is probably over 7,000 if you don't count various prints of the same card in each set as more than one card. It is less though if you only count each card 'by name' once.

Yeahno.

There've been 35 booster packs released; let's say an average of 100 cards per pack (that's being generous though, since a good chunk of the packs in the GX era only had 60 cards), that's 3,500 cards. Even if we say that an equal number number of cards were released through other things (Premium packs, Video game/Manga/etc. promos, OCG Extra packs), that's still only 7,000 cards, which as I said before, is being generous.

Where do you possibly get the idea that the number is in the hundred thousands?

And lastly, this thread has been dead for a couple weeks. We got an as-close-to-concrete-as-possible answer from the Admin himself. No need bump the thread.

You necrobumped this thread to give a stupid answer.
Dare I ask why?

Good it gives me a chance to be in b4 obligatory over 9000 reference.

But yeah, it's about 7000 cards. Most modern YGO video games tend to have 4000, though for the sake of booting psychic kappa.
