What do you guys think are the best 3 types of monsters(based on total quantity, power, & support), and which are the worst 3?
Excluding divine beasts of course.
I'd say the best are Dragons, then fairies, then machines.
Dragons mostly because many of the strongest monsters are dragons. Fairies and machines I feel have a lot of good support cards.
I'd say the worst 3 are Sea Serpent, Reptile and Pyro, with pyro being the worst. Sea serpent and reptile mostly because they don't have tons of support cards, pyro I feel just doesn't have enough dominating strategies.

Dragons are kind of meh at best until May. Fairies just got their best (and only competitive) deck smacked by the banlist. Machines are also meh until Return of the Duelist, which will be sometime around August/September.

Sea Serpent is actually getting some support fairly soon too, but for now, yeh, they suck. Reptile actually have a fairly competitive deck (granted it uses Dinos and a couple Dragon bosses, but yeh) right now. Pyro? Agreed.

Now, my opinions are that Fiends (Dark Worlds, TGU, Caius), Insects (I'm guessing you haven't heard of Inzektors? And they just get better in a month), and eh, not even sure what I'd say the third one is. Since the other two top decks use an amalgamation of types, can't really just fall back on them.

EDIT: I'm gonna have to say Warriors because of HEROs' strong showing at YCS Long Line.

Top 3
1. I would say dragons, but then i'd have dedoombriger on me in a heartbeat...
2. warriors for six spam and x-sabers and support cards
3. insects for inzekors

Bottom 3
3. fish: not that many support cards, even with generation force
2. plants for the new format
1. beast warrior, no support cards at all...

Beast-Warriors have Horn of the Phantom Beast, I think that's enough to make them better than Thunder. Their only relevant card is TKR

This thread inspires me a bit to try and make a Deck around whatever is on the bottom of the list.

So far the bottom votes are...

Rock 2
Sea Serpent 2
Pyro 1
Plants 2
Fish 1

In my mind for best... right now I see Dragons, Spellcasters, and Dinosaurs coming up on the horizon.
Warriors are always in the game in every format, they just have so much variety of play styles compared to the other Types.
Somebody somewhere has a Warrior in hand. :P
They are the ultimate utility player.

Bottom for me... Psychics. They haven't really found their niche yet and have so much catching up to do due to their late introduction in the game.
Rock are in an odd place. Other than the Jars, they are a lot of old, heavy DEF monsters that are slow and out of date.
OOPArts will give Rock some boost, but they are being mixed with Machines and the boss monsters are Machines.
Plus, that's too far over the horizon to worry.
I don't think (although I could be wrong) that OOPArts will make enough of an impact for Rock to be celebrated.
Rock is just too slow to be a major Type.
Aqua is weak too.
Sure, Frogs had their time in the sun, but in general Aqua is a support type for the big guns.
They always seem like the pawns you send out first to set up the Queen or Knight.

Mystic actually Pychics are benfited by that because every card in it's type fits a perticular purpose. While the others have all sort of dead and usless cards.

What are Psychic's purpose? Really?

First they were cards that paid heavy Life Point costs for effects, then gained them back.
They were a Synchro heavy type and were all Jinzo-like in appearance.

Near the end of 5Ds, beginning of ZeXal, they changed to abuse the Banished Zone.
But that never caught on.

They are also part of Gusto, mixed with Winged-Beasts and others.

Psychics kind of have an identity problem.
They don't really know what they want to be.

They can potentially be utility cards, but a lot of the time that role is filled with Warriors and Spellcasters.
They were brought in when 5Ds re-invigorated the game, but they've been lost in the shuffle already.
