Card Set: Serpent Night Revival [SNRV]

Post by MysticJhn » Sat Jul 11, 2009 2:26 pm

Just a set of support cards for Serpent Night Dragon.
As a Normal Level 7 Monster, it needs it.
Poor thing used to be a secret rare and it's now useless.
2350 ATK and 2400 DEF don't get you much notice these days as a vanilla.

Card Name: Serpent Night Knight
Card Type: Monster/Effect
Attribute: Dark
Level: 4
Type: Warrior
ATK/DEF: 1700/1000
Card Text: You can Tribute this card to Special Summon a "Serpent Night Dragon" from your hand or Deck.

Card Name: Dark Star Flare
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Text: Select 1 "Serpent Night Dragon" you control. Destroy all face-up monsters your opponent controls. The selected monster cannot attack this turn.

Card Name: Dark Star Dragon
Card Type: Monster/Synchro/Effect
Attribute: Dark
Level: 9
Type: Dragon
ATK/DEF: 3000/2800
Card Text: 1 Tuner + "Serpent Night Dragon"
Once per turn, you can switch 1 monster your opponent controls to face-down Defense Position. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent.

Card Name: Shooting Star Drago
Card Type: Monster/Tuner/Effect
Attribute: Dark
Level: 2
Type: Dragon
ATK/DEF: 1000/100
Card Text: If this card is used for the Synchro Summon of "Dark Star Dragon", "Dark Star Dragon" gains 500 ATK.

Card Name: Serpent Night Wing
Card Type: Monster/Effect
Attribute: Dark
Level: 3
Type: Dragon
ATK/DEF: 1200/400
Card Text: While there is another "Serpent Night" monster on your side of the field, no "Serpent Night" monsters you contol can be attacked.

Card Name: Serpent Night Dragon-Rider
Card Type: Monster/Effect
Attribute: Dark
Level: 8
Type: Dragon
ATK/DEF: 2800/2400
Card Text: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Tributing 1 "Serpent Night Knight" and 1 "Serpent Night Dragon" from your side of the field. If your opponent controls no face-up monsters, this card can attack directly. If this card is destroyed, you can Special Summon 1 "Serpent Night Dragon" from your graveyard.

Card Name: The Serpent's Night
Card Type: Spell Card/Field
Card Text: "Serpent Night" monsters gain 500 ATK. If a "Serpent Night" monster is destroyed by battle, it's owner draws 1 card.

Card Name: Serpent Night Queen
Card Type: Monster/Effect
Attribute: Dark
Level: 6
Type: Spellcaster
ATK/DEF: 1500/2400
Card Text: If this card is Normal Summoned, it is switched to face-up Defense Position. Once per turn you can Tribute 1 other "Serpent Night" monster you control to inflict damage to your opponent equal to half it's original ATK. Then, if "The Serpent's Night" is face-up on the field, you can draw 1 card.

Card Name: Invasion of the Night
Card Type: Trap/Continuous
Card Text: Face-down monsters cannot be flipped face-up except by battle. If a monster that was flipped face-up by battle is not destroyed, it is Set after Damage Calculation.

Makes me wanna play them as well.
I know how to add cards to YVD myself, but it would be fun if everyone could use them.

Looks good. Here's my fixes:

Burst Stream of Destruction
Group: Spell Card
Type: Spell
Activate only while you control a face-up "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". Destroy all monsters your opponent controls. "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" cannot attack the turn you activate this card.

That's Blue-Eyes' "attack", so you may want to kick it up a notch.

Card Name: Dark Star Dragon

Card Text: If this card is Normal Summoned, it is switched to face-up Defense Position. Once per turn you can Tribute 1 other "Serpent Night" monster you control to inflict damage to your opponent equal to half it's original ATK.

Pretty weak card, not really worth its weight.

Card Name: Invasion of the Night
Card Type: Trap/Continuous
Card Text: Face-down monsters cannot be flipped face-up except by battle. If a monster that was flipped face-up by battle is not destroyed, it is Set after Damage Calculation.
And thought I'd mention, there is no "may" in Yugioh OCG, it's always "can".

Serpent Night Knight - can/may, blah makes no real world difference, but fine.

Dark Star Flare - I'm fully aware of Burst Stream of Destruction as I love BEWD. But I didn't want Serpent Night Dragon to be as strong and, gameplay wise, the cards are geared towards abusing face-down defense position monsters. Specifically "Dark Star Dragon", "Serpent Night Dragon-Rider" and "Invasion of the Night". No changes.

Dark Star Dragon - I can never remember how to correctly put the wording for the piercing effect. And I didn't want to just write "this monster has piercing damage." as it's only been done once and seemed really lazy of the card text writers.

Shooting Star Drago - No good, that changes the effect. You can still Synchro Summon under Macro Cosmos or Dimensional Fissure, so why should it lose it's effect? I don't want to change the effect of it.

Serpent Night Wing - Changes are fine.

Serpent Night Dragon-Rider - I don't mind you changed the effect slightly with your re-wording the face-down defense position part of his effect since there' only 1 card in the game that can result in face-down attack position. But again, I don't believe adding "sent to the Graveyard" is needed. That again ruins it's effect against Macro Cosmos and Dimensional Fissure. It's already a Nomi that needs 2 specific Tributes. It doesn't need that D.D. Achilles heel.

Serpent Night Queen - What's so week about it? 2400 DEF is equal to most Level 6 monster's 2400 ATK.

There is a real world difference between can/may.

All the cards should be okay, can finalize whenever.

Serpent Night Queen is a Tribute (which are generally slow) that sacrifices advantage for Life Points (which don't matter unless they are 0). Not really worth summoning, if I made a deck with this set, I wouldn't run it, that's all I'm saying. Up to you if you want to change it or not, though.

Well what would you suggest her effect be?
If you were to make it worthy of being a Level 6?

Also, she has 1500 ATK, which makes her searchable by the likes of Mystic Tomato.

Either make her effect powerful enough to compensate for the massive advantage lost or somehow shaft the cost of using her. Or you could make a summoning condition that will allow you to bring her out more easily.

Suppose I gave her a bonus of drawing a card if "The Serpent's Night" is on the field when she uses her effect?

something like this...?

Card Name: Serpent Night Queen
Card Type: Monster/Effect
Attribute: Dark
Level: 6
Type: Spellcaster
ATK/DEF: 1500/2400
Card Text: If this card is Normal Summoned, it is switched to face-up Defense Position. Once per turn you can Tribute 1 other "Serpent Night" monster you control to inflict damage to your opponent equal to half it's original ATK. Then, if you control a "Serpent Night Dragon", you can draw 1 card.

The Field Spell Card in the set, I mean you might Tribute Serpent Night Dragon.
Sort of like how some WATER cards have additional effects when "Umi" is on the field.
