Spellbooks Curiosity

Post by MysticJhn » Sat Jul 09, 2016 7:27 pm

I was just playing against the YGOPro AI's Spellbook deck, and they played something that surprised me.
Maiden with Eyes of Blue.

Now I never paid any attention to Spellbooks back when they were meta, but did they really use her?
What is the point of using Maiden and at least 1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon to Summon with it?
Wouldn't they be in the way in a Spellbook deck?
I know she's a Spellcaster, but Blue-Eyes itself is a dead draw in that deck if you don't draw her first.
The AI didn't even seem to use her as a Tuner as far as I saw, so what's the point?
If it's purely for the Blue-Eyes beatstick, wouldn't just about ANY high ATK Spellcaster work better?

Im pretty sure Maiden was just there for synchro plays. This version did see play for a while, and then died off.

Oddly, the AI did have a Blue-Eyes in the deck to Summon with it, and the Blue-Eyes did see play.
Also, despite numerous turns with Maiden on the field with other monsters because I was struggling,
Not one Synchro Summon was performed.
Maybe the YGOPro AI isn't top notch for Spellbooks, but it was competent enough to play 40 cards each turn.

Also, if it was just there for the Synchro Summons at the time, was there no better Spellcaster Tuner to use?
What would it have Synchro'd into?

Don't go by the retarded AI. Blue Eyes was in the deck, yes.
Effect Veiler was pretty much the only other tuner.
You use High Priestess to make a level 8.
You could also target it with Spellbook of Wisdom to get your free Blue Eyes.

You'd think people would have always gone with Effect Veiler and not bothered with the possible Blue-Eyes dead draw.
I don't recall seeing a single Effect Veiler in the entire AI deck, although if they did have one, they didn't draw or play it.

Well most people generally don't even consider Veiler a monster.
